A tough penalty for the 23XI Racing crew at Naval Base Coronado
It is an absolute disaster for the No. 23 23XI Racing team. After Bubba Wallace’s right-front wheel detached on Lap 18 of the Anduril 250, NASCAR officials dropped the hammer. The incident at the Qualcomm Circuit forced a caution and resulted in a direct violation of Sections 8.8.10.4.A&D of the rule book.
Because of this failure, rear-tire changer Adam Hartman and jackman Nathan Ricketts have been hit with a suspension for the next two events, running through Chicagoland Speedway on July 5. It is a harsh blow for the team, especially considering how well the car was performing.
Despite the two-lap penalty assessed during the race, Wallace managed a stunning recovery to finish in second place. That result stands as his best finish so far in 2026, even with the chaos in the pits.
