Alex Albon honors Nigel Mansell with special tribute helmet

At this weekend's Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, Alex Albon will step into his Williams machine wearing a helmet that is a modern replica of the iconic design used by Nigel Mansell during his 1992 championship run. It is a stunning visual tribute to mark the moment Albon moves clear of the 1992 World Champion to hold the most race starts in the history of the team.
Having pulled equal to Mansell’s 95 starts for the squad back in Monaco, the 30-year-old Albon—who debuted with Williams in 2022—will reach 96 starts on Sunday. It is a massive milestone for a driver who has been instrumental in the team’s evolution. As Albon put it, "It is incredible to think that I've raced for this historic team more often than one of the true greats of the sport."
Team Principal James Vowles emphasized that this longevity is the result of years of trust and hard work at Grove. Looking ahead, the rhythm doesn't slow down; Albon is already set to reach the century mark of starts for Williams in Hungary. That is a rare air indeed, with less than 30 drivers in the entire history of Formula 1 having reached a hundred starts for a single team.
