Alex Albon reflects on the collision that ended his Canadian Grand Prix

It was a bitter pill to swallow for Alex Albon in Montreal. After fighting his way up from an 18th-place start, the Williams racer was forced to retire on Lap 13 when he was hit by the McLaren of Oscar Piastri. The incident was a brutal end to what Albon described as his first comfortable moment in the car all weekend, leaving the 30-year-old to admit that the DNF was simply "not ideal."

Piastri, who received a 10-second penalty for the contact, suffered a lock-up that caused the collision. The Australian later offered an apology to Williams, explaining that he simply got caught out by the track conditions. It was a tough afternoon all around for Piastri, who finished P11 after a strategic gamble to start on intermediate tyres backfired, forcing an early pit stop for the entire McLaren squad.

For Albon, the focus is now on finding consistency. Having dealt with limited track time due to DNFs and various setbacks throughout the year, he is desperate to find a rhythm. It is a frustrating reality for the team, but as Albon noted, there are still learnings to take from the weekend. He is already looking ahead, hoping to put this disappointment behind him by the time the circus arrives in Monaco.
