Fernando Alonso steered his machine from a P21 grid slot to P10, surviving a race that saw seven retirements and enough attrition to leave the midfield wide open.

The team played a brilliant, high-stakes game of poker with their pit strategy. By pitting Alonso as early as Lap 3 to swap mediums for softs, they committed to an aggressive one-stop plan. Even when the race was paused, the team stuck to their guns, bolting on a fresh set of softs under the first Safety Car.
