Antonelli on Austrian GP: Not a walk in the park

Kimi Antonelli has stated that his pursuit of the championship title this season will be a significant challenge, especially heading into the Austrian Grand Prix.

Antonelli, who currently leads the standings by 41 points, experienced his first retirement of the year in Barcelona. This setback, with just three laps remaining while running in second place, allowed Lewis Hamilton to close the gap.

The young driver acknowledged potential threats from his teammate George Russell, a resurgent Hamilton, and reliability concerns. "I'm aware that it's not going to be a walk in the park. It's going to be a tough battle," Antonelli commented.

Following discussions after Barcelona, where Antonelli and Russell's on-track duel indirectly aided Hamilton, Mercedes is implementing revised intra-team rules. Toto Wolff indicated the team may adjust its approach if external contenders pose a threat. Antonelli confirmed, "If we are under threat by other teams then we will race differently, but if it's just me and him we are going to be able to race free."
