Bearman admits Haas are losing the development race

It is a tough reality for Haas, but Ollie Bearman is not looking for excuses. The team has seen their early-season momentum evaporate as they have been out-developed by the likes of Alpine, Racing Bulls, and Audi. Currently seventh in the Teams’ Championship, they trail Racing Bulls by 23 points.

While he hopes a small step this weekend will help, the 21-year-old knows they have to knuckle down to close the gap. While he admits they were the eighth-fastest car in Spielberg, he is holding onto the hope that the unpredictable nature of Formula 1—and the unpredictable weather—could still offer an opening.
