Bubba Wallace has long struggled with road and street courses in his NASCAR Cup Series career, yet he looked like a different driver this Sunday. In the Anduril 250 at Naval Base Coronado, the 23XI Racing driver managed a stunning second-place finish, his best result ever on a non-oval track. It was a gritty, comeback drive that proved he finally has the pace when the turns start coming fast.

After working his way into second place within 10 laps of the green flag, disaster struck when a detached right-front wheel at Lap 19 forced him to pit lane, resulting in a crushing two-lap penalty.
