Cadillac denied maiden F1 point after post-race penalty for Perez in Monaco

It was meant to be a historic day for Cadillac, but the dream of a maiden Formula 1 point evaporated in the stewards' room. Sergio Perez crossed the line in 10th place after a chaotic Monaco Grand Prix filled with red flags and Safety Cars, only to have that result cruelly snatched away.

A post-race investigation into Perez's positioning at the final restart led to a 10-second penalty. The stewards reviewed the data and found the front-right wheel of his car sat outside the starting box. This demoted him from P10 to 15th, making him the final finisher of the day.

It was a rough afternoon for the Mexican driver, who had already served a drive-through penalty for lining up in the 16th grid slot instead of the 18th, a mix-up that occurred after Audi’s Gabriel Bortoleto moved to the pit lane. To compound the frustration, he also received a reprimand for a practice start in the wrong position during the reconnaissance laps. As the stewards noted, “The standard penalty is applied.”
