Chaos at Nashville ends in disappointment for Wallace, Byron, and Bowman
It was an absolute disaster at Nashville Superspeedway for Bubba Wallace, whose recent run of bad form took a turn for the worse on Sunday. The trouble began on Lap 205 when Carson Hocevar made contact with the RFK Racing Ford of Chris Buescher. The resulting snap sent Buescher straight into Wallace’s 23XI Racing Toyota, triggering a sequence that left William Byron, of Hendrick Motorsports, with nowhere to run. Byron hammered into the back of the No. 23 machine before slamming the wall.
The carnage didn't stop there. With his steering locked and brakes gone, a stranded Wallace slid back down the track and tagged the back of Alex Bowman, sending the No. 48 Chevrolet into a spin. It was a miserable end to the day for both Wallace and Bowman, who were forced behind the wall in 32nd and 33rd respectively. Byron managed to return to the track only to retire early, ending his night in 30th place. As for Buescher, he held on only to suffer a brake rotor failure that left him in 29th.
Wallace, who was sitting second in the points just four races into 2026, is now languishing in 15th. Reflecting on the nightmare, he was clearly exhausted: “As soon as I hit the wall, steering was locked and no brakes, so I hate it for the 48 team.” It is a brutal reality for a driver who has now finished 22nd or worse in four of the last five events.
