Chris Buescher stays put at RFK Racing to chase more wins
The NASCAR free-agency board just lost its most interesting piece. Chris Buescher has officially re-signed with RFK Racing, keeping the 33-year-old in the No. 17 Ford. It is a massive move for stability in the garage, ensuring that Buescher can stop worrying about his future and start focusing on the actual racing.
For Buescher, the decision was personal, rooted in his history with team founder Jack Roush. Co-owner Brad Keselowski admitted that keeping their cornerstone driver was far from a simple task, noting that plenty of other teams were aggressively courting him. Now, that noise is gone. Buescher sits seventh in the Cup Series standings, and with the Anduril 250 at the Qualcomm Circuit fast approaching, the pressure is back to finding that elusive first win of the season.
He has the pedigree for it, especially on road courses where he has maintained an impressive 9.76 average finish since 2022. You don't have to look back too far to see what he is capable of; his absolute masterclass of a drive to hold off Shane van Gisbergen at Watkins Glen International in September 2024 proved he can beat the best when the trophy is on the line. Now, with a new deal secured, the goal is simple: get back to winning.
