Dani Sordo prepares for Rally1 comeback at Rally Islas Canarias
Dani Sordo is set to return to the top tier of international rallying at the Rally Islas Canarias, where he will pilot the third factory Hyundai i20 N Rally1. The Spaniard, accompanied by co-driver Cándido Carrera, has not competed in Rally1 machinery since securing a podium finish at the 2024 EKO Acropolis Rally Greece. Since then, the pair has remained active in the sport, successfully securing the Portuguese national championship title behind the wheel of an i20 N Rally2.
To prepare for the demanding asphalt stages of Gran Canaria, Sordo recently utilized the Rallye La Llana as a testing ground to refine his car setup. While acknowledging the unpredictable weather conditions often found on the island, the three-time WRC winner remains optimistic about his prospects. Sordo expressed his intent to challenge for a podium finish, noting that the familiarity of competing on home soil provides added motivation for a strong performance.
