Speaking on Friday at Daytona International Speedway, Suárez laid out just how close the arrival actually is. They have reached 38 weeks, meaning it is considered fully term and can trigger at literally any second. The driver admitted that a phone call could drop at any moment telling him to drop everything and head back. Naturally, he is hoping things line up so he can actually be present for the birth.
Logistically, the preparation has been thorough. Suárez even went through an official hospital tour, joking that he is ready to drive as quickly as possible whenever the moment arrives. That hour-and-a-half tour mapped out everything from the exact floor he needs to visit to where he can park, chill, and stress.
The timing creates quite a logistical puzzle at Daytona International Speedway. Suárez confirmed he was completely prepared to skip qualifying if the call happened to come on Friday. For any other weekend, he noted that might not be the case, especially with the postseason approaching and his spot in The Chase already locked down. If the birth falls on a Saturday or Sunday, he admitted it is going to be tough. Ultimately, he and Julia agreed they are hoping for a Monday-through-Friday baby.
