David Alonso makes the leap to MotoGP with Honda

It is finally official. Honda Racing Corporation has announced the signing of David Alonso, locking down the 20-year-old Colombian on a multi-year deal to compete in the MotoGP World Championship starting in 2027. It is a massive move for the Japanese manufacturer, though the specific garage where he will land remains a mystery for now. Whether he slots into the Honda HRC team or finds a home with LCR is a detail that has yet to be confirmed.

Alonso has been an absolute force of nature through the lightweight classes. After bursting onto the scene as a Moto3 rookie in 2023 with a third-place finish, he absolutely dominated the class the following year. Currently, he is working through his second season in the Moto2 World Championship.
