That three-year DTM journey is reaching its final destination, but the Frankfurt-based squad is already looking ahead, as Motorsport.com reports. The McLaren team Dörr wants to stay on the grid in 2027, even though high costs mean the funding is not yet locked down. Team owner Rainer Dörr is feeling optimistic about the project anyway. "We are working on the package and want to continue," he says, pointing to a massive upward trend that has finally put them on the map.
That confidence comes from hard results on the tarmac. Ben Dörr has already hauled in 123 points so far this season, a staggering leap from the 47 points he managed last year, which includes a brilliant second DTM victory at the Sachsenring. The young driver is ecstatic about the squad's trajectory. "This is of course mega now - and absolutely fantastic for the whole team," he says, noting the podiums and wins that have built immense motivation for the future. Rainer Dörr makes it clear that if they line up next year, Ben will be right there with them, pursuing a goal of becoming a McLaren factory driver.
Loyalty to the machine also seems absolute. Even though the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo has its quirks—namely, not being built for lightning-fast pit stops—the squad is sticking with the British beast. Rainer Dörr points out that they have invested too much time and money to switch now, confirming that any future campaign will keep using McLaren machinery.
Unfortunately, the same stability does not apply to the other side of the garage. The 44-year-old Timo Glock is staring down an expiring contract after two difficult years marred by technical problems and a fractured relationship with the team. Glock has only managed to scrape together 30 points this season, a tiny step up from the 22 he scored in 2025, and an extension is widely considered extremely unlikely.
Despite the messy situation with his current squad, Glock is not thinking about hanging up his helmet. Speaking on the Formula 1 podcast Starting Grid, the veteran admitted he is keeping his options wide open. Whether it is more DTM racing or diving into endurance events, he is ready for whatever comes next. The 24-hour race at the Nürburgring remains a very real possibility, with Glock pointing to an exciting project with Bitburger as one potential avenue after previously sharing a specially-liveried McLaren with Timo Scheider, Ben Dörr, and Marvin Kirchhöfer.
