Elfyn Evans welcomes WRC return to the UK via Rally Scotland

The World Rally Championship is set to return to Great Britain following a new three-year agreement to host a gravel event in Aberdeen, Scotland. This marks the first appearance of the series in the UK since Wales Rally GB concluded in 2019. The project is backed by a coalition involving Motorsport UK, the WRC Promoter, the Scottish Government, and local councils, with an autumn slot on the 2027 calendar currently anticipated. A candidate event will take place later this year to facilitate evaluation by the FIA.

Toyota driver Elfyn Evans expressed enthusiasm for the move, noting that a home event serves as a vital platform for engaging the next generation of competitors and enthusiasts. Having achieved his first career WRC victory on British soil in 2017, Evans highlighted the importance of the Aberdeen-based rally for the national motorsport community.

Co-driver Scott Martin echoed these sentiments, expressing his anticipation for competing before a home crowd once again. Both competitors credited the collaboration between officials and local government for successfully bringing world-class rally competition back to the region.
