Here's the thing, endurance racing fans: the entry list for the maiden 6 Hours of Barcelona is officially out, and it sets the stage for an absolute thriller as the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship heads to Spain for the very first time.
Running from 16 to 18 October, this penultimate round of the campaign lands at a venue that is no rookie to high-level endurance competition, having previously played host to the European Le Mans Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup. The 4.657km circuit features 14 turns, blending a long main straight with fast, flowing corners and technical sections designed to test every machine's aerodynamic efficiency and all-round capabilities to the absolute limit. With the championship fights sitting on a razor's edge across the board, nobody can afford a misstep.
Over in the headlining Hypercar division, just 20 points split the top four crews in the Drivers' standings. Toyota and BMW have claimed most of the spoils this year, but defending world champion Ferrari is lurking with intent to upset the two-way fight. The Prancing Horse also packs a serious local weapon in home hero Miguel Molina, who comes from nearby Girona, while Aston Martin fields Alex Riberas and Genesis relies on Daniel Juncadella—both of whom were born right there in Barcelona.
There is major driver news elsewhere on the grid, too. Alex Lynn makes his long-awaited return and seasonal debut at Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA, stepping back into the cockpit after being forced to sit out the bulk of the year following surgery for a neck injury. Meanwhile, the #93 Peugeot 9X8 crew sees a 'TBA' listed alongside Paul di Resta and Nick Cassidy, forced by the recent departure of Stoffel Vandoorne.
Down in LMGT3, TF Sport’s #33 Corvette still holds the upper hand thanks to its victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier in the year. But with time rapidly running out, rival outfits representing Porsche, Aston Martin, and Ferrari are throwing everything they have at turning the tables. It all adds up to a sensational scrap for supremacy as the championship hits the home stretch.
