Elfyn Evans cemented his dominance in Japan by securing his third victory at the event, finishing 12.8 seconds ahead of Sébastien Ogier. The Welshman established his lead early on Friday morning by capitalizing on his road position, and he successfully defended that advantage throughout the weekend. This win marks his second of the season and his 50th WRC podium, extending his lead in the drivers’ championship to 20 points after seven rounds.

Despite the victory, Evans noted that he intentionally tempered his aggression on Sunday. While he acknowledged some disappointment in missing out on additional bonus points, he emphasized that securing the overall win remained his primary objective. He maintained a balanced pace to overcome the challenges posed by variable grip levels and the technical requirements of managing Hankook tires in changing weather conditions.

The rally saw significant pressure from competitors, including an early battle with Oliver Solberg before the latter retired. Evans successfully navigated the shifting conditions as the event moved from damp Friday stages to warmer, drier weather over the weekend.
