F1 Commission agrees on 2027 regulatory updates
The sport is already looking past 2026. During a meeting in London, Stefano Domenicali and Nikolas Tombazis oversaw the F1 Commission's second gathering of the year, where they locked in provisional changes for the 2027 season. It is a necessary exercise to keep the machines in check as we approach the future regulations.
Most notably, the calendar for track time is expanding. The commission approved a proposal to bump pre-season testing from three days to four days in 2027. They also tightened up the rules regarding Testing of Previous Cars, specifically limiting the use of circuits that are scheduled to host a race the following year.
Beyond the logistics, we are looking at minor adjustments to aerodynamic and bodywork components to build upon the cars arriving in 2026. Of course, this remains provisional until the FIA World Motor Sport Council grants final approval. It is the bureaucratic side of the beautiful game, but it matters.
