Felix Rosenqvist enters the history books at the 110th Indianapolis 500
It is difficult to put into words just how insane the finish to the 110th Indianapolis 500 was. Felix Rosenqvist took his first-ever career victory at the Brickyard in his eighth start, crossing the line a mere .0233 of a second ahead of David Malukas. That gap is, quite simply, the closest finish in the entire history of this race. The victory also marks a major milestone for Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb Agajanian, as it stands as their second win in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.
The race was a tactical war of attrition, featuring an event-record 70 lead changes. It was a brutal heartbreak for David Malukas, who saw the lead slip away on the very last lap—the fifth time in history the leader has been overtaken on the final circuit. Meanwhile, 34-year-old Rosenqvist joins the elite company of Swedish winners Kenny Brack and Marcus Ericsson, and he did it starting from the fourth position on the grid.
Elsewhere on the track, the records continued to fall. Helio Castroneves, who eventually retired on Lap 194 due to mechanical issues, officially surpassed A.J. Foyt to become the all-time mileage leader at the Indianapolis 500. Scott Dixon further cemented his legacy by extending his career laps-led record to 709, while Romain Grosjean produced a stunning drive to finish ninth after starting 24th.
