Ferrari prepares power unit upgrade for Austrian GP
It is happening again. Ferrari is bringing a fresh power unit specification to the Red Bull Ring this weekend, utilizing the 2026 ‘ADUO’ allowance to push their development forward. Coming off the back of Lewis Hamilton’s brilliant win in Barcelona, the team is clearly not sitting still.
Technical Director Enrico Gualtieri confirmed the news, describing the update as a relatively minor move born from recent work back at the factory. While the team is “working relentlessly,” Gualtieri was quick to manage expectations, noting that this single piece of kit won’t shift the overall pecking order in a field this tight. Instead, he views it as a statement of intent—a relentless commitment to continuous improvement.
Currently, Ferrari sits second in the Teams’ Championship with 190 points, trailing Mercedes at 262. In the Drivers’ Championship, Hamilton holds 115 points, chasing down Kimi Antonelli’s 156. It is a steep mountain to climb, but after that breakthrough victory, you can feel the energy in the garage.
