Goodyear keeps the same rubber for the Nashville visit

It is not often you see the exact same tire configuration used in back-to-back weekends, but that is exactly what Goodyear is delivering for the NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway. We are looking at the same Goodyear Racing Eagle left- and right-side combination that tackled Charlotte Motor Speedway just last week.

This marks the sixth appearance for this specific compound this year, all of which have been on intermediate-style circuits like Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Darlington Raceway, Kansas Speedway, and Texas Motor Speedway. As Rick Heinrich, Goodyear NASCAR product manager, pointed out, the real mission at a concrete venue like Nashville is getting the surface to rubber in quickly. They are clearly happy with how this machine has handled high-speed ovals so far.

Meanwhile, the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series teams are getting a hybrid setup, mixing left-side tires from Charlotte with right-side tires from Dover Motor Speedway. Regardless of the series, every team will be running the 15-inch tires with inner liners as standard procedure for these 1-mile or longer tracks.
