Gus Greensmith eyes third consecutive Safari Rally WRC2 victory

The Safari Rally Kenya remains one of the most grueling tests on the WRC2 calendar, requiring crews to manage treacherous fesh-fesh dust, jagged rocks, and unpredictable weather. Gus Greensmith enters the event as the favorite, aiming for a third straight win. This year, the Briton faces the added challenge of transitioning from his previous Škoda machinery to a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 under the RaceSeven banner.

Competition in the class is set to be fierce, led by the return of two-time WRC2 champion Andreas Mikkelsen, who pilots a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 for Toksport WRT. The entry list also features notable young talent, including Estonia's Robert Virves and M-Sport Ford’s Romet Jürgenson, as well as 2024 WRC3 champion Diego Dominguez.

Local knowledge will be a critical factor, with reigning African Rally Champion Karan Patel and five-time event winner Carl Tundo leading the home contingent. Along with Junior African Rally Champion Samman Singh Vohra, the local drivers provide a formidable challenge for the international field on the demanding Kenyan stages.
