Haas operational shortcomings highlighted after Barcelona struggles

Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu has called for significant improvements after a disappointing weekend at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit, where the team failed to score points.

Komatsu stated that not only was the car lacking pace, but the team's operational execution was also insufficient. He highlighted issues with communication during the race and acknowledged that the team was not extracting the maximum potential from the VF-24 package, especially following the introduction of a recent upgrade. "As a team we need to look at ourselves and improve very quickly," Komatsu commented.

The team's struggles were evident in both qualifying and the race. Neither Ollie Bearman nor Esteban Ocon were able to challenge for strong grid positions, with Ocon starting 17th and Bearman qualifying 15th. Bearman was eventually forced to retire from the race due to a technical issue, while Ocon finished 13th.

Esteban Ocon described the race as "very difficult," citing issues with tyre management that necessitated multiple pit stops. He suggested that the car's setup might have been incorrect from Friday onwards and expressed hope for a better performance in Austria. Bearman echoed the sentiment, calling the weekend "tough" and emphasizing the need for the team to collectively identify and resolve their issues.
