Hiyu Yamakoshi masters the streets of Monte Carlo for maiden F3 win

It was a masterclass of composure on the most unforgiving asphalt in the world. Van Amersfoort Racing’s Hiyu Yamakoshi took his maiden FIA Formula 3 win in the Monte Carlo Sprint Race, holding the front from the start and never looking back. The race was a chaotic affair, interrupted by a red flag on Lap 2 after a pile-up at the Turn 6 hairpin left the track littered with debris.

Once the action resumed, Yamakoshi was clinical, fending off DAMS Lucas Oil driver Gerrard Xie, who secured a well-deserved maiden podium of his own in second place. Van Amersfoort’s Bruno del Pino rounded out the top three, marking his second consecutive Sprint Race podium of the 2026 campaign after inheriting the spot from Pedro Clerot, who was forced to surrender the position following a Turn 1 incident at the start.

Further back, the championship battle saw a shift in momentum. Ugo Ugochukwu kept his cool to finish P6, successfully extending his lead in the Drivers’ Championship. It was a day to forget for his rivals Freddie Slater and Théophile Nael, whose race ended without points after the two collided in the middle phase of the contest.
