Inspection penalties hit No. 17 and No. 44 teams at Michigan
It has been a rough morning for several teams at Michigan International Speedway. Ahead of the FireKeepers Casino 400, NASCAR confirmed that both the No. 17 RFK Racing Ford of Chris Buescher and the No. 44 NY Racing Chevrolet, piloted by JJ Yeley, failed technical inspection twice on Saturday. They only managed to pass on their third attempt, and the consequences are immediate.
Because of these failures, both squads have been stripped of their pit-selection privileges for Sunday's race. Furthermore, the sport has taken the harsh step of ejecting the car chiefs from the venue. This means Joshua Sisco from the No. 17 team and Lee Leslie from the No. 44 team are sidelined for the remainder of the weekend.
