Inspection trouble hits the grid at Pocono
It is a tough start to the weekend at Pocono Raceway, with NASCAR officials confirming that the No. 5 and No. 78 Chevrolets failed pre-race inspection twice. These technical hurdles carry immediate consequences: both teams lose their pit selection for Sunday’s Great American Getaway 400. Even more significant, a crew member from each squad has been ejected for the remainder of the event.
The garage will be without Jesse Saunders, car chief for the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports team, and Chris Stanley, the engineer for the No. 78 Live Fast Motorsports outfit. It is a difficult situation for Kyle Larson, currently sixth in the Cup Series standings, and Daniel Dye, who is preparing for only his second career start at this level.
To add to the drama, the starting order has seen a shake-up as well. The No. 6 of Brad Keselowski, the No. 23 of Bubba Wallace, and the No. 60 of Ryan Preece will all drop to the rear for the start of the race. The reason is simple: unapproved adjustments to their machines.
