Isack Hadjar secures a hard-fought podium in Monaco
It is a rare thing to see a driver go from a heavy FP1 crash to a podium finish, but that is exactly what Isack Hadjar achieved in Monaco. After losing critical track time early on, the Red Bull driver spent the weekend rebuilding his confidence, eventually qualifying in P5. That third-place finish was earned the hard way, as Hadjar had to navigate constant power unit trouble and the pressure of George Russell looming behind him for the duration of the race.
Red Bull Team Principal Laurent Mekies praised his driver’s composure under immense pressure. Dealing with significant engine power loss is a nightmare for any driver, especially on the unforgiving streets of Monte Carlo, yet Hadjar managed the situation through intense communication with the pit wall. The team worked to guide him through a series of switch changes, essentially keeping the car alive while he balanced the race.
Even after the checkered flag, there was a moment of tension as the FIA investigated work done on the car during the red flag period. Thankfully for the team, the investigation into the attempted repairs found no breach of the rules, confirming the result. For Hadjar, who finished P4 on track and inherited the spot after a penalty for Pierre Gasly, this stands as the high point of his 2026 season.
