Kimi Antonelli commands the chaos in Monaco
The 2026 Monaco Grand Prix was supposed to be a standard affair, but it descended into absolute madness. Kimi Antonelli made it look simple, achieving a grand slam victory that was as clinical as it was relentless. By converting pole position into a win, he extended his lead in the standings to 66 points over Lewis Hamilton. It was a beautiful display of control, though the same couldn't be said for the rest of the field.
While Antonelli celebrated, George Russell endured a nightmare. A late drive-through penalty for a pit lane infringement dropped him out of the points, leaving him "beyond frustration." Meanwhile, Isack Hadjar managed to salvage a P3 podium finish for Red Bull after a weekend plagued by engine issues and a heavy crash in FP1. It was a wild survival test for the 21-year-old, who faced immense pressure throughout the race.
Disaster struck for many, including Charles Leclerc, who crashed out at the final corner when his brakes failed on his home soil. Carlos Sainz also suffered a devastating exit after a collision involving Nico Hulkenberg and Franco Colapinto. Pierre Gasly crossed the line in P3 but was demoted to P7 after two separate five-second penalties, leaving Alpine searching for answers. With seven retirements and mechanical woes for McLaren on their 1000th Grand Prix, Monaco proved once again that it is the most unforgiving beast on the calendar.
