Kimi Antonelli continues his Monaco mastery
Kimi Antonelli is simply unstoppable. The Mercedes driver secured his fifth straight victory on the unforgiving streets of Monte Carlo, and in doing so, stretched his lead in the Drivers’ Championship to a massive 66 points. After a stunning pole position on Saturday, he navigated the chaos of the race with a level of composure that is frankly terrifying for his rivals.
It was a tale of two garages for Mercedes, as George Russell saw a potential podium vanish following a late drive-through penalty that left him outside the points. Meanwhile, Ferrari had a rollercoaster afternoon: Charles Leclerc’s home race ended in the barriers due to ongoing braking issues, but Lewis Hamilton salvaged a strong result by finishing on the podium. The rostrum was rounded out by Isack Hadjar, who fought through significant power issues to snatch P3 after Pierre Gasly was hit with penalties, dropping the Frenchman from third to seventh.
Reliability proved to be a brutal referee, with both Max Verstappen and Lando Norris forced to retire. Elsewhere, it was a day of breakthroughs and hard-earned gains: Racing Bulls secured a double points finish with Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad, while a post-race penalty for Sergio Perez promoted Fernando Alonso to tenth, handing Aston Martin their first point of the season.
