Kimi Antonelli finds fire after testing weekends

It has been a rough couple of outings for Kimi Antonelli. The Mercedes driver suffered his first DNF of the season in Barcelona due to a technical issue, followed by a qualifying mistake in Austria that pushed him back to a P4 start. While he put on a recovery drive to nearly catch Max Verstappen for P2, team mate George Russell took the win, and Antonelli's lead in the Drivers' Championship now stands at 40 points.

Antonelli is not dwelling on the past, though. He admits that those weekends have left him with a “fire inside,” realizing he must never let his guard down. Whether it was the struggle with brakes in Austria or the timing of a yellow flag, he knows he needs to better maximize every session.

Heading into the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the 19-year-old remains confident in the W17. He knows the challenge of the Sprint format and the pace of Red Bull, McLaren, and Ferrari, but he is ready to push. After all, as he put it, he is just looking to “drive as fast as I can.”
