Kimi Antonelli masters the streets of Monaco

Kimi Antonelli just delivered a masterclass in the streets of Monte Carlo, securing an incredible victory that cements his command over the World Championship standings. The 19-year-old started the weekend with a 43-point lead over his Mercedes teammate George Russell, and after qualifying on pole while Russell sat in P6, he proved to be simply untouchable.

It was a chaotic afternoon for everyone else, with a red flag caused by a crash for Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and a relentless parade of penalties for the field. Yet, when the race resumed for the final 10 laps with Lewis Hamilton of Scuderia lined up right behind him, Antonelli kept his cool. He navigated the restart perfectly, noting that once the notification came, he refocused on the data and getting his tyres to the right temperature.

Crossing the line in P1, Antonelli now enjoys a 66-point lead, with Hamilton moving ahead of Russell in the standings. Still, the youngster knows better than to get comfortable. As he put it, "The job’s not finished – it’s still a long season and we’ve got to keep pushing."
