Korhonen secures maiden WRC2 victory at Rally Sweden

Roope Korhonen claimed his first victory on the snow and ice of Rally Sweden, leading an all-Finnish podium sweep in his Toyota Yaris GR Rally2. The 27-year-old finished 11.2 seconds ahead of Teemu Suninen, improving on his second-place finish at the same event last year. Lauri Joona completed the top three, securing his best result since the 2024 Secto Rally Finland.

Suninen enjoyed a successful return to WRC competition, marking his first appearance since the 2024 Rally Finland and his debut with co-driver Janni Hussi. While Suninen remained a consistent threat to Korhonen throughout the weekend, the lead was maintained by the eventual winner, who credited his team, Printsport, for a clean and error-free performance.

Elsewhere in the field, Tuukka Kauppinen saw his podium hopes vanish on Sunday morning due to an engine failure 10 kilometers into the opening stage. This retirement allowed Taylor Gill to take fourth place in an impressive WRC2 debut. Isak Reiersen rounded out the top five, while Michal Solowow finished the rally in sixth.
