Lando Norris battles through shock damage at Silverstone

It was a frantic race against the clock at Silverstone for the McLaren crew. During SQ2, Lando Norris shed debris as his front brake duct broke, leaving his machine feeling, in his own words, "pretty shocking" for the majority of the session. The team pulled off a heroic repair just before the final shootout, but the damage had already taken its toll.

While the fix made the car feel "completely different and way better" for his final run, Norris was left feeling like he could have pushed much harder had the car been healthy from the start. He ultimately settled for P6, lining up right alongside the Mercedes of George Russell. Norris admits that while he might be able to race the Red Bull, the Mercedes is "clearly just a lot quicker."

On the other side of the garage, it was a similarly tough day for Oscar Piastri. After showing promise early in SQ3, the Australian dropped back to P7, confirming that the team simply lacked the raw pace to challenge the leaders today. Despite the struggles, the pair is looking to sharpen their setup for tomorrow's Sprint.
