Lando Norris sets an awesome new McLaren record
Lando Norris has officially etched his name into the history books at McLaren. With 156 race starts under his belt, he has officially surpassed David Coulthard’s record of 150. It is a stunning milestone for a driver who joined the team back in 2019, and hearing him talk about it, you realize he isn't just treating it as another box to check.
"That's a pretty awesome stat to think of," Norris admitted ahead of this weekend's 1000th Grand Prix at the Monaco Grand Prix. It is quite the journey he has been on, helping guide the squad from their previous struggles to consecutive Teams’ Championships in 2024 and 2025, plus his own maiden Drivers’ title.
As the team celebrates in Monte Carlo, the focus turns to the performance of the McLaren MCL40. While Norris notes that their lead-up to this year’s race feels slightly different than his winning effort 12 months ago, he remains cautiously optimistic. With strong competition from Ferrari and Mercedes, the 26-year-old knows the challenge is immense, but the belief remains that pole and victory are within reach.
