It is official: the Las Vegas Grand Prix is going to be a permanent fixture in the Formula 1 calendar through 2037. This 10-year extension is a massive statement of intent for the sport in the United States, providing the stability needed to keep pouring investment into the facilities and the fan experience. The numbers behind the decision are staggering, with $3.2 billion in cumulative economic impact for Southern Nevada and sell-out crowds for every race from 2023 to 2025.
As Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, put it: "Since its debut in 2023, the event has been extraordinary, rapidly establishing itself as a premier destination for great racing." He is absolutely right. The circuit itself is a wild machine, featuring 2km straights down the strip and cold, tricky night temperatures that make tyre management a proper challenge. It has produced some beautiful racing, including an insane 113 overtakes during the 2024 event won by George Russell.
Max Verstappen remains a key figure in this city's short history, having claimed victories in both 2023 and the 2025 race. That 2025 win was a pivotal moment, pushing Verstappen level with Oscar Piastri and narrowing the gap to Lando Norris in the title fight, while McLaren faced a double disqualification. With the next installment scheduled for November—kicking off with practice on the 19th and the main event on the 21st—it is clear this race has earned its place as a cornerstone of the sport.
