Leclerc braces for a difficult British Grand Prix

It is a tough pill to swallow for Charles Leclerc. Heading into the British Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver is already sounding the alarm, admitting that the high-speed nature of Silverstone simply does not suit the machine his team has built. With a heavy emphasis on straights and precious little opportunity to recover energy in the corners, Leclerc is not expecting a triumphant weekend.

This follows a brutal outing at the Austrian Grand Prix, where Leclerc faded to a P8 finish despite starting on the front row. The deficit was stark, as he crossed the line 45s behind the winner, George Russell. Leclerc noted that while Saturday provided a glimmer of hope in Austria, Sunday exposed the car’s fundamental struggles with tyre management and straight-line speed.

Leclerc remains humble about the task ahead, acknowledging that the team is lacking in every area, specifically citing the power unit as a hurdle they cannot currently solve. While his team mate Lewis Hamilton boasts a record nine wins at Silverstone, Leclerc is keeping his head down and focusing on the work, though he warns that the next two weekends are, on paper, not favorable for Ferrari.
