Lewis Hamilton perplexed by Ferrari shift at Monaco qualifying

Lewis Hamilton was left scratching his head after a qualifying session that promised so much but delivered a third-place finish. After showing spectacular pace and topping the times in FP2, Hamilton’s Ferrari felt completely transformed by the time he hit the track for the session that really counts. Despite putting in a monumental final effort, his best lap of 1m 12.279s left him over two tenths of a second off the pole time set by Kimi Antonelli.

It is truly wild how these machines can change personality in the blink of an eye. Hamilton noted that they barely touched the car setup, yet it was drastically different, leaving the team with a massive amount of data to sift through. He pushed the limit, getting as close to the barriers as humanly possible, but could not close the gap to polesitter Kimi Antonelli or the Red Bull of Max Verstappen.

Charles Leclerc, meanwhile, had a rough afternoon at his home event, ending up in P4 after a brush with the barriers during his second run. Despite the frustration of losing that practice rhythm, Hamilton remains optimistic about the close competition. He seems genuinely energized by how tight the field is, even if he is still searching for why his Ferrari lost that special edge when the pressure was highest.
