Lewis Hamilton sets the pace at Silverstone

Lewis Hamilton made a serious statement in the sole practice session for the British Grand Prix. The home hero clocked a 1m 29.260s to command the top of the timesheets, leaving standings leader Kimi Antonelli over two tenths adrift. It was a beautiful display of confidence from Hamilton, who is hunting for an incredible 10th victory at Silverstone.

The session was a frantic dash for data with Sprint Qualifying looming, and the order shuffled constantly as the drivers switched to medium and soft rubber for the final 12 minutes. While Oscar Piastri had a wild moment spinning at Becketts, Hamilton remained focused. Charles Leclerc secured third for Ferrari, followed by George Russell and Piastri to round out the top five. Max Verstappen led the rest of the field, just missing the top five ahead of Lando Norris and Isack Hadjar.
