M-Sport Ford eyes road position advantage at Acropolis Rally

The FIA World Rally Championship moves to Greece from June 25-28 for the Acropolis Rally, marking the start of a seven-event gravel series. The rally will cover over 320km across Attica, the Peloponnese, and Central Greece, with the event headquarters relocating to Loutraki. Given the notoriously punishing terrain, tactical navigation and consistency will be critical to navigating the unpredictable conditions.

M-Sport will deploy four Ford Puma Rally1 cars, with Josh McErlean and Jon Armstrong joined by Mārtiņš Sesks and Jourdan Serderidis. Because the first leg features five stages run as first-passes, the team’s lower start order is expected to provide a significant performance advantage.

Reflecting on the challenge, Josh McErlean noted that the inherent unpredictability of the event creates unique possibilities for those who avoid trouble. Jon Armstrong, making his second start at this event, emphasized a disciplined approach to minimize risks like punctures and mechanical failures, hoping to replicate the success the team has historically found on Greek soil.
