Martell joins Lancia WRC2 entry for Acropolis Rally
American driver Brandon Martell is set to make his WRC2 debut at the Acropolis Rally, marking the start of a three-event campaign that will also include Rally Italia Sardegna and Secto Rally Finland. Martell will be joined by co-driver Alex Gelsomino, piloting a Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale under the 2C Competition banner.
The 29-year-old joins teammate Léo Rossel, who currently leads a strong charge in the WRC2 championship standings. Having previously competed in United States rallycross and stage rallying, Martell is transitioning to the global stage following successful outings in the French Gravel Rally Championship.
While Martell acknowledges the difficulty of the challenging Greek gravel stages, he remains focused on the opportunity to compete at the world championship level. The effort represents a significant personal milestone for the Vermont native, who enters the event as one of the few American drivers to compete in the series over the last quarter-century.
