Mikkelsen leads WRC2 classification after opening day in Greece

Andreas Mikkelsen, piloting a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, leads the WRC2 field after the opening leg of the Acropolis Rally Greece. The Norwegian was initially held up by dust during the second pass of Stiri, but a time correction following an appeal against the obstruction allowed him to reclaim the top spot, ending the day 8.2 seconds clear of Robert Virves.

Virves maintains a competitive pace, sitting comfortably in second, while Alejandro Cachón holds third despite sustaining rear bodywork damage and a damaged windscreen during a challenging day. Jan Solans follows in fourth, with Roope Korhonen rounding out the top five after struggling to find a rhythm on the rough, loose gravel.

Yohan Rossel faced significant setbacks, losing over two minutes on the final stage of the day due to a combination of mechanical concerns and a steering issue. The Frenchman finished the day in seventh place, while Léo Rossel, Diego Domínguez, and others continue to navigate the difficult conditions that characterized the event's return to the rocky Greek terrain.
