NASCAR arrives at Naval Base Coronado for a debut weekend
NASCAR is doing something truly wild this weekend as the Cup Series, the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, and the Craftsman Truck Series arrive at Qualcomm Circuit at Naval Base Coronado for an absolute debut. It is not every day you see these machines take over Southern California for such a unique event.
The logistical challenge here is fascinating, especially regarding the rubber. Cup Series teams were initially slated for ten sets of tires, but after some urgent garage feedback following Friday's practice, NASCAR stepped in to provide an extra set of Goodyear tires for Sunday's main event. It is that kind of intensity that makes this sport so unpredictable.
Everything kicks off with the Craftsman Truck Series on Friday at 7 p.m. ET, followed by the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. The Cup Series will close out the weekend on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET. It is a packed schedule for a venue we have never seen before, and I am genuinely curious to see how these drivers handle the layout.
