Nikola Tsolov secures dramatic final lap victory in Silverstone Sprint Race

It was a masterclass in patience and precision at Silverstone. Nikola Tsolov snatched his fifth win of the F2 season in spectacular fashion, executing a clinical final lap overtake to deny his championship rival, Gabriele Minì. The Campos Racing driver had spent the race biding his time, having expertly navigated his way from sixth to second early in the contest.

For much of the race, the MP Motorsport driver Gabriele Minì looked untouchable, successfully holding off the Red Bull junior. But in racing, the smallest margin is all that matters. A lockup at the Loop proved to be the pivotal moment, gifting Tsolov the opening he needed to strike. With the bit between his teeth, the Bulgarian driver deployed his DRS down the Wellington straight to slip past the Alpine Academy member and seal his second consecutive race win.

Behind the leaders, it was a busy afternoon on track. Van Amersfoort Racing’s Rafael Villagómez held firm to secure the final spot on the podium in third, comfortably ahead of the ART Grand Prix pairing of Kush Maini and Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak.

Further back in the field, Dino Beganovic put on a show for DAMS Lucas Oil. He carved through the pack, climbing from 11th on the grid to finish sixth, just ahead of teammate Roman Bilinski. Joshua Duerksen rounded out the points in eighth. With the sprint action now behind us, the focus shifts to Sunday morning, where the drivers will return at 11:15 local time for the Feature Race.
