Ogier credits consistency for victory at Rally Islas Canarias

Sebastien Ogier secured his maiden victory of the season following a high-stakes battle at Rally Islas Canarias. The nine-time world champion maintained a steady pace throughout the event, eventually claiming the top spot after his teammate and primary challenger, Oliver Solberg, retired following an accident on the penultimate stage.

Toyota Gazoo Racing exerted complete control over the event, with Ogier, Elfyn Evans, Sami Pajari, and Takamoto Katsuta locking out the first four positions. Ogier highlighted the superior chassis balance of the GR Yaris Rally1 as the deciding factor, noting that the car’s precision on the high-grip asphalt allowed him to push confidently without resorting to unnecessary risks.

Despite the abrupt end to his fight with Solberg, Ogier expressed satisfaction with his performance and his ability to remain composed under pressure. The French driver now turns his attention to the upcoming Rally de Portugal, an event where he has historically excelled.
