Ollie Bearman admits Haas did not deserve the point in Canada

It is a rare day when a driver tells you straight: we did not deserve this. That is exactly what Ollie Bearman said after scraping a tenth-place finish at the Canadian Grand Prix, a result that came despite a brutal, low-grip weekend for the Haas machine.

Haas arrived in Montreal with a substantial upgrade package, hoping to fight near the front of the midfield. Instead, both Bearman and his teammate Esteban Ocon struggled for pace throughout the event. After failing to challenge for points in the Sprint and qualifying down in P16 and P17 for Sunday’s 68-lap race, the odds were clearly stacked against them.

Yet, racing is a fickle beast. The combination of slippery conditions and a chaos-filled race—which saw retirements for George Russell of Mercedes, Lando Norris of McLaren, and Alex Albon of Williams—allowed Bearman to fight his way up. He made six positions on the opening lap alone, a move he described as essential, though the used soft tires he chose for the start lost their edge during the three formation laps.

"Honestly, I feel like we didn't really deserve that today based on our performance but we'll take it," Bearman said. While he is grateful for the points, he remains frustrated by the team's lack of performance and a slow pit stop that he believes cost them even more. It is a reality check for Haas as they look to understand their issues before Monaco.
