Oscar Piastri dismisses Max Verstappen speculation
It is that time of the season again, the so-called silly season, where rumours start to spin out of control. This time, the paddock in Austria was buzzing with talk of Max Verstappen’s management team engaging in discussions with McLaren. Naturally, this led to immediate speculation about potential seat swaps at the reigning World Champions.
Oscar Piastri, however, remains remarkably calm. He addressed the situation during media day, confirming that he has received “multiple reassurances that the team are very happy with me.” The Australian is locked into a multi-year deal with McLaren, and he has made it clear he intends to see it through, stating, “I've got a contract in place... I'm very happy where I am and very happy with the situation I'm in.”
While the talk swirls, Piastri is focused on the British Grand Prix and the constant technical battle at the front of the grid. He acknowledges that while the team is in the mix, they are still hunting for that final edge. “We're still missing that final step to really challenge for wins [and] as long as we put our best foot forward, I think we're in the running for hopefully podiums,” he noted.
