Perez identifies Cadillac's shortcomings after Barcelona race

Sergio Perez has acknowledged that the recent Grand Prix weekend in Barcelona served to highlight areas where Cadillac requires significant improvement. The extreme heat and demanding layout of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya proved to be a considerable challenge for the American team.

Valtteri Bottas was forced to retire early in the race due to overheating issues, following an earlier incident in practice that involved a brake problem and a trip into the gravel. "We had to stop the car, it was precautionary. We saw an issue with some overheating issue again," Bottas commented on his premature exit.

Perez, meanwhile, did manage to finish the 66-lap race, albeit three laps down in 14th position. He cited problems with tyre management and a general lack of pace as key factors contributing to Cadillac's struggles. The team had anticipated that the Barcelona circuit would expose these deficiencies.

"I think we always knew that Barcelona was going to show what we are lacking and I think we've got some work to do," Perez added. "We have a pretty good idea on what's happening and we confirmed that today."
