Pirelli to remain exclusive F1 tyre supplier until 2028
It is official: Pirelli is staying on as the exclusive tyre supplier for the FIA Formula One World Championship through 2028. The FIA, alongside Formula 1, has exercised its option to extend this massive technical partnership, ensuring the Italian manufacturer continues its work not just in F1, but also in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, the FIA Formula 3 Championship, and F1 ACADEMY.
This is a continuation of a history that stretches all the way back to the championship's first season in 1950, and specifically marks a long run of exclusivity since 2011. Whether we like it or not, the series is betting on the data coming out of what they call their 'advanced laboratory' to refine tyre design and sustainability materials for the long haul.
As Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, noted, this agreement brings stability to the technical framework and the evolving regulations that began in 2026. Marco Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice Chairman of Pirelli, reinforced that they view themselves as a strategic partner in this growth, having already surpassed 500 Grands Prix. It is a massive commitment to the status quo for the years to come.
