Porsche's GEN3 racer to debut in Need for Speed Mobile
Here's a wild crossover for you: the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is teaming up with Tencent once again to bring a title-winning machine straight into Need for Speed Mobile. Following its recent launch into Game for Peace, players in China will soon be able to take the wheel of the Porsche GEN3 99X Electric starting August 21.
Positioned right in the prestigious 'Hall of Legends - Hybrid & Electric Drive' vehicle class, this in-game machine arrives with a distinct driving profile specifically calibrated to handle the high-speed streets of Need for Speed Mobile. Tencent has engineered the car to replicate the real-world dynamics of Porsche's official Formula E factory contender, packing some unique handling traits under its skin.
The car features agile drift tuning that brings more agile rear-tail behavior during drifts, allowing drivers to carry higher entry speeds through tight corners and execute sharper turn-ins. It also delivers a significantly higher base top speed, precision steering response, and automatic nitrous accumulation while cornering. Then there is the ERS Regenerative Braking System, which replicates the real-world powertrain management. It delivers a sustained high-torque launch boost for 2.8 seconds from a standstill, and during braking, handbrake turns, and inertia drifts, the system harvests kinetic energy—temporarily lowering top speed—before unleashing the stored power within 2 seconds post-drift for a massive nitrous boost.
Beyond standard sprint and circuit battles, driving this electric beast unlocks dedicated operational perks within the game's high-stakes Hot Pursuit game mode. If you are playing the Street Racer role, equipping the Porsche 99X Electric expands your overall backpack capacity, giving racers the room needed to carry extra tactical supplies during intense escapes. If you take on the Pursuit Team role as enforcement, operating the vehicle completely eliminates the helicopter cooldown timer, maintaining continuous aerial surveillance over targets.
If you want to get your hands on it, the car officially debuts via the limited-time “Hall Treasures” in-game event and can be unlocked using Hall Treasure Coupons to draw from the event pool. Coupons can be acquired through several limited-time mechanics, which can be viewed via the Events menu, within Specials.
Sanjay Shivaram, Brand Licensing & Retail Director at Formula E, explained the move: "China is a key market for Formula E, and teaming up with Porsche to bring the Porsche GEN3 99X Electric to Need for Speed Mobile allows us to connect millions of gamers with the speed of electric performance, and this iconic automotive brand."
