Rafael Camara takes maiden pole in chaotic Monaco qualifying

It is honestly hard to believe what Rafael Camara pulled off in Monte Carlo today. The Invicta Racing driver looked to have thrown it all away after smashing his rear suspension against the barrier at the final corner on his first lap. But the gods of racing were listening; a Red Flag bought his team the precious time they needed to patch the machine together, allowing him to charge back out and clock a 1m 20.923s.

That stunning effort was enough to edge out Alexander Dunne of Rodin Motorsport by 0.110s in Group A. Meanwhile, over in Group B, Nikola Tsolov showed his own teeth. The Campos Racing pilot laid down a 1m 21.053s to beat Martinius Stenshorne and lock himself onto the front row for Sunday’s Feature Race alongside Camara. It is a wild result that sets up an incredible weekend.

Looking down the grid, the two Rodin machines—Dunne and Stenshorne—will be sharing the second row. Dino Beganovic, representing DAMS Lucas Oil, slots into fifth. We also have the Saturday Sprint Race to look forward to, where Joshua Duerksen of Invicta Racing will lead the field away from the reverse grid pole, starting alongside the Campos Racing car of Noel Leon.
